June 5, 2001 - Getting Ready
We decided to take a 7-day cruise to Alaska. We ended up choosing Norwegian Cruise Lines. Check out their Bridge Cam...you can see the view from the bridge of the ship! They sail from Seattle and they have Freestyle Cruising, which better fits our lifestyle. We will be sailing the "inside passage," visiting Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan Alaska as well as Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
As we studied Seattle, it sounded like such an interesting city that we decided to stay an extra 3 days after the cruise to see some of it. As luck would have it, one of my favorite female singers, Sade, (Smooth Operator) is performing in Seattle on the Sunday of our return from the cruise. We were fortunate enough to score 2 tickets! As an added bonus, we were contacted by some friends that live in Washington State, not too far from Seattle. They are going to join us at the Dahlia Lounge in Seattle to help us celebrate. We are so looking forward to that!
I have to give a plug to Ray Goldenberg from Lighthouse Travel. Ray has been extremely helpful with planning the trip, providing brochures, suggesting excursions, etc. His sort of service seems rare these days.
As Ray told me, "the thing about an Alaskan cruise is Nature." To that end, I have purchased a new Olympus C-700 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera. This baby has a 10X optical Zoom and a QuickTime Movie feature that I hope will allow me to capture a bit of the experience for you. I sincerely hope you enjoy the pictures.
Well, Linda has just about everything packed. We will be picked up at 5:45AM for the drive down to Miami to catch an airplane....Seattle, here we come!
Let the Tour Begin!
